Simple formula in Excel?

I have Excell 2007 and i am trying to make a simple balance sheet where I put in an amount and it automatically takes it from the running balance in the next collum. My formula is =sum(d2-c3) and put the total in into D3. But when i copy the formula in all the calls in the collumns it pastes in and amount in all the collums.
